Central Manitoulin Garbage & Recycling

In 2022 the Municipality of Central Manitoulin developed a waste management plan. The process included stakeholder consultations and evaluated our options for waste service delivery to meet both our short- and long-term waste diversion and disposal needs as a community.

The Municipality is working to develop and implement further waste diversion programs and will post new initiatives here as the information becomes available.

The Municipality hosts a household hazardous waste collection event once per year usually the third weekend in July on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event takes place at the Mindemoya Roads Shed at 7 Lakeshore Road in and is open to residents of the following municipalities:

• Municipality of Central Manitoulin
• Township of Assiginack,
• Township of Billings
• Township of Burpee and Mills
• Township of Gordon/Barrie Island
• Township of Tehkummah
• Town of Gore Bay.

The Municipality is proud to offer residents the opportunity to purchase Food Cycler machines at subsidized rates to reduce the amount of organic waste that enters the landfill.
