State of Emergency Declared on April 14th, 2026
The Municipality of Central Manitoulin has declared a State of Emergency effective 11:13 am on April 14, 2026, due to extreme flooding in parts of the municipality.
Rapid snowmelt combined with significant rainfall has caused water levels to rise quickly, creating hazardous conditions in several areas.
Residents are asked to:
- Avoid all flooded roads and areas if possible.
- Use extreme caution if necessary travel is required. Flooded roadways can be difficult to see, and high speeds can result in sudden loss of control and possible collisions.
- Follow all posted road closures and detours. Driving on closed roads is dangerous and against the law.
- Monitor municipal updates for ongoing information. Plan accordingly and adjust travel as needed.
Municipal crews are actively responding and working to manage the situation. The safety of our residents remains our top priority.
Please continue to check our website and social media channels for updates as conditions evolve.
