Central Manitoulin Animal Control

The Animal Control Officer is Paul Methner and he can be contacted at 705-795-0229.  For any questions regarding animal control or dog tags, please refer to By-Law 2022-12 or contact the municipal office.

The Municipal Dog Pound is located at 7 Lakeshore Road in Mindemoya. The focus of the municipal pound is to supply a safe and secure means of temporarily housing unfortunate dogs who have strayed or been driven from their usual place of residence within our Municipality. Our first efforts are directed towards finding the original owner, which is made easier if dogs are tagged as required municipal By Law. If the dog is brought to the pound without tags, it is then available for adoption after the time limits directed by provincial law are surpassed. Every effort is made to find a suitable home and the euthanization of dogs is a final resort and would only be considered if an animal is deemed unfit for adoption under medical or psychological reasons.

If any animal is in care of the Municipality of Central Manitoulin, the municipal pound is open Monday to Saturday from 8:45 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. Please contact the municipal office to make an appointment outside those hours.
