Two lengths will be selected for lake trout in each age category. One length selected for Walleye (or Pickerel) in each age category. The lengths will be chosen by the contest organizer staff and relayed to another staff prior to the contest for a two-person verification. The first participant to measure to the exact mystery length wins or failing an exact measurement during the contest the closest to the mystery length at the end of the tournament wins.

Registration:

Participants must register for free prior to submitting their entry pictures. Before entering the contest and parent or guardian must acknowledge the entry disclaimer at https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/central-manitoulin-march-break-youth-fishing-tournament-2023-tickets-574767784917

Measuring policy:

Place fish on ground or flat surface. Tape measure in inches must be in the measurement picture. Get a clear picture from directly over top of the fish looking down. Place your index finger on one tip of the tail fin and your thumb on the other. Then, squeeze the two tips together so they form a single point. The measurement from the tip of the fish's mouth to the tip of the point between your fingers is the total length of the fish. Take one picture with measuring tape in inches, one picture without. The measuring tape measurement must be visible in the picture with the whole fish in frame view, please be close to the fish or use a high-resolution camera or phone camera to take the picture. Measurements not meeting these specifications will be disqualified.

Number of Entries per Participant:

Maximum 3 submissions per fish species per participant for the tournament. Choose your best!

Entrants are able to win in all fish categories in their age group. However, you can only win one prize per participant in perch, walleye or lake trout category. You can submit 3 entries to win the top prize, but you can’t win 1st through 3rd with the 3 entries in a fish category. As this is a friendly youth tournament and distribution of prizes is a goal of the organizers you cannot win 1st through 3rd with your entries rather you are submitting your best of 3.  In the event of a tie the first one submitted to the organizers wins the ranking and the second submitted gets the next ranking.

If more than 3 are submitted the first 3 fish sizes will be used by the contest organizer. You cannot win first through third with your entries rather you are submitting your best of 3.

Where there is any doubt in the contest the first submitted to the organizer will be the clear winner.

Submission Instructions:

Parent, grandparent or guardian must verify with tape measure per the measuring policy and submit two pictures. One picture with tape measure showing in inches and second picture without a tape measure. Entries to be sent to Marcus Mohr, Community Development and Outreach Coordinator at the Municipality of Central Manitoulin at cmyouthfishing@gmail.com.  Photos not meeting these specifications will be disqualified.
