Canada Post Strike Impact at the Municipality of Central Manitoulin
Payment Options During Strike
The Municipality of Central Manitoulin offers the following alternative payment options for property taxes, water utility bills, and more:
This Request for Quotation (the RFQ) is an invitation by the Municipality of Central Manitoulin (the Municipality) to prospective respondents to submit a non-binding Quotation for curbside collection of garbage and non-eligible source recyclable materials across the entire Municipality.
The Municipality of Central Manitoulin in partnership with Manitoulin Streams Improvement Association successfully opened Mouth of the Mindemoya River in Providence Bay, ON to allow spawning salmon to access the river. The work was conducted on Friday October 4th, 2024 under an approved Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry work permit.
The Municipality of Central Manitoulin in partnership with Manitoulin Streams Improvement Association will be dredging the sand at the Mouth of the Mindemoya River in Providence Bay, ON to allow spawning salmon to access the river. The work will be conducted on Friday October 4th, 2024 under an approved Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry work permit. An excavator will be used to pull sand out of the mouth of the river and it will deposited on the adjacent beach area.
Please be advised Providence Bay Beach work has been completed.
The Municipality of Central Manitoulin has been issued a Permit Under Clause 17(2)(c) of the Endangered Species Act, 2007 by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry. This is specific to the Providence Bay beach and boardwalk maintenance. The work is part of ongoing restoration of the beach that assists the natural ecosystem. These actions are expected to improve the area for the enjoyment of visitors and enhance the protected habitat, the dune, for species at risk.
Update 2024-09-19: The floating intake pipe is not longer a hazard to boating traffic but work continues on securing the pipe to the lake bottom at the time of this update.
Due to the Mindemoya swim dock being damaged, it will be removed August 30th, 2024, for the remainder of the season.
Please be advised the coin operated potable water filling station located at 61 Old Highway 551, Mindemoya, ON has been repaired.
Update: 2024-08-26 at 11:20 am - The potable water filling station has been repaired.
Wagg's Woods Trail has reopened as of 1:05 pm 2024-08-19. The trail had been closed for a routine inspection after the recent wind and storm event.
