Never Be Afraid to Contact 911 for an Emergency
NOTICE FROM THE MUNICIPALITY OF CENTRAL MANITOULIN FIRE DEPARTMENT
FIRE CHIEF PHIL GOSSE
Considering a recent post from a community member, we want to ensure that the proper facts are known.
NEVER BE AFRAID TO CONTACT 911 FOR AN EMERGENCY SOMEONE CALLING 911 WILL NEVER BE CHARGED
(Only people contravening the Open Air Burning By-law can be charged)
A FIRE EMERGENCY CAN INCLUDE:
(But not limited to)
-CONCERN FOR SMOKE IN THE BUSH
We would rather be certain it’s not a dangerous fire that can spread, even if it ends up being a controlled burn and non issue.
-CARBON MINOXIDE DETECTOR
CO Detectors can save your life! There are never fees for these calls, even if a false alarm! This also goes for electrical burning smells and smoke alarms.
-OUT OF CONTROL FIRE
Accidents can happen even when following all the rules!
Remember, always burn under safe conditions.
Follow the rules of the Open Air Burning By-law 2020-14 (which can be found at www.centralmanitoulin.ca). And only seek fire emergency information right from the source!
We are working with the community to keep you safe.
