Providence Bay Beach Maintenance Completed
Please be advised Providence Bay Beach work has been completed. The work conducted permit Under Clause 17(2)(c) of the Endangered Species Act, 2007 by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry was:
- Removal of all shrub-sized willow, including roots, scotch pines and poplar by the Municipality, along the foredune of the Habitat Enhancement Area and Activity Area of the permit, from the playground for the length of the boardwalk and ending at the on-leash dog area.
This is specific to the Providence Bay beach and boardwalk maintenance. The work was part of ongoing restoration of the beach that assists the natural ecosystem. These actions are expected to improve the area for the enjoyment of visitors and enhance the protected habitat, the dune, for species at risk.
