Canada Post Strike Impact at the Municipality of Central Manitoulin

Update December 17th, 2024
Canada Post will be returning to work on Tuesday, December 17, and have indicated that they will start receiving outgoing mail on December 19. 
Mail delivery to and from the Municipality of Central Manitoulin will resume, and utility, supplemental billing and year-end tax owing bills will be mailed out this week.
Please note that these items may be delayed as Canada Post works through the back-log of mail in their system. Until mail service is fully restored, we recommend you continue to contact the office for your utility bill balances and utilize the payment options listed below.

Payment Options During Strike

The Municipality of Central Manitoulin offers the following alternative payment options for property taxes, water utility bills, and more:

  • In-Person: Payments for a number of services can be made at the Municipal Office Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Financial Institution Payments – Telephone/Online Banking: Property tax and water utility payments may be made at any financial institution or through your bank’s telephone or online banking services.

Ice Skating In Central Manitoulin

Recreational programing is offered throughout the skating season and includes mom and tots, learn to skate, sponge puck and public skating! Check in on our events page for more information about upcoming events.

Special programing is offered during the Christmas Holidays and during the Spring School Break in March and sponsored by local businesses and community service groups to help promote healthy active living.

  • One-time rental, $70/hr (including HST)
  • Regular scheduled rentals, $65/hr (including HST)

The operating season at the JH Burt Memorial Arena is from the beginning of November until the beginning of March and is subject to weather and safe ice operating conditions and is monitored daily and managed by arena staff.

  • One time rental, $70/hr (including HST)
  • Regular scheduled rentals, $65/hr (including HST)

The operating season at the Providence Bay War Memorial Community Arena is from Mid December until the end of March and is the host site for the Pearson Cup and the Bradly McAllister sportsman 4 on 4 hockey tournaments.

Please note:

A minimum of two full business days is required for any changes to the ice schedule. All last minute cancellations are subject to full ice fees.

All ice programming and operation is subject to weather and safe ice operating conditions and is monitored daily and managed by arena staff. The operating season can change quickly depending on service levels and outside weather conditions.
